The Last Bastion is my band, when we were starting to gear up to album recording in late 2024 we decided it would be a good idea to have some promo images. Stuff we could use on social media, posters for live shows, that kind of thing. This was my first go at photography in the context of music, it wasn't just about making something look pretty, it was about showing something personal about each band member individually and then how we slot together as a band.
When I first sent them the images, all three of them used them as profile pictures on facebook. For me that's the biggest seal of approval, choosing a profile picture on social media is choosing how you want others to see yourself. If they're using one of my pictures then I know I captured something about them that they want others to see.
Phebe and I have known each other for a year or two online and have been exchanging music ideas for about as long. December 2025 she came to stay with me for a few days with the view of recording a single at my newly outfitted studio. We spent about two full days in the studio figuring out the song and arrangement, taking it from a vocal/acoustic guitar demo on her phone to a fully fleshed out song.
While she was working hard on takes I took the opportunity to take some behind the scenes photos to document our process. She was very kind to put up with all this while trying to get good takes but we're both super pleased to have these memories.
